- This may be old news, but I recently encountered a problem with a USR
- 33.6 Plug-N-Pray Sportster. My company has several non PnP 28.8
- Sportsters and has not had a problem with any of them. Recently we
- purchased three 33.6's and could not get them to answer. We tried
- several Dip switch configurations and still were unsuccessful. Finally,
- after several hours of seek and destroy, we noticed that all of the
- initialization strings that are provided with different packeges (Shiva
- Remote, Reachout, PCAnywhere etc.) for the Sportster 28.8s contain a
- non-supported string (&D3). This command does not choke the older non
- Plug-n-Pray versions of the 28.8 Sportster. However, if the &D3
- is contained in the init string for the 33.6 units, the modem will not
- initialize. If you are experiencing similar problems, check those init
- strings! I hope this helps someone.
