  14. This may be old news, but I recently encountered a problem with a USR 
  15. 33.6 Plug-N-Pray Sportster.  My company has several non PnP 28.8 
  16. Sportsters and has not had a problem with any of them.  Recently we 
  17. purchased three 33.6's and could not get them to answer.  We tried 
  18. several Dip switch configurations and still were unsuccessful.  Finally, 
  19. after several hours of seek and destroy, we noticed that all of the 
  20. initialization strings that are provided with different packeges (Shiva 
  21. Remote, Reachout, PCAnywhere etc.) for the Sportster 28.8s contain a 
  22. non-supported string (&D3).  This command does not choke the older non 
  23. Plug-n-Pray versions of the 28.8 Sportster.  However, if the &D3 
  24. is contained in the init string for the 33.6 units, the modem will not 
  25. initialize.  If you are experiencing similar problems, check those init 
  26. strings!  I hope this helps someone.
